Mosquito Nets And How You Can Use Them

Mosquito Nets And How You Can Use Them

When asked what the most dangerous creature is on the planet, what would you guess?

Lions? Tigers? Bears? (Oh, my!)

While these are all great guesses — the world’s most dangerous creature is much smaller. How small? Like, no bigger than a quarter, small

Responsible for killing more than one million people every single year, the most dangerous creature that inhabits the Earth is none other than the mosquito.

Surprised? Sadly, it’s true. The buzzy fliers who easily succumb to a quick slap of the hand may not seem like much, but they can carry some pretty scary diseases. Not to mention they drink our blood and leave behind red itchy welts; we can all probably agree that the little bloodsucking vampires are pests we could all do without.

When it comes to mosquito protection, the market is full of options. However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that they’re all good options. Take insect repellent, for example.

While the smelly spray does wonders to keep the biting bugs at bay, it’s often jam-packed with harsh chemicals and skin irritants. And seeing as skin is our largest organ absorbing over 60 percent of what we put on it, it’s really not shocking that new studies are beginning to emerge showing the dangers of traditional insect repellents.

In addition to insect repellent, the dangers of mosquito coils have also recently come to light, showing that one burning coil is equivalent to burning 75 to 137 cigarettes

That being said, while protecting ourselves and little ones from deadly skeeters is of the utmost importance, there has to be a safer way to repel them.

Enter: mosquito nets.

Made of a fine mesh material designed to prevent hungry skeeters from helping themselves to your blood, mosquito nets have become pretty popular over the years — but how do you use them?

Read on to find out.

First Things First. Why Are Mosquitoes So Dangerous?

For most of us, mosquitoes are nothing more than a summer pest. Sure, none of us particularly enjoy getting itchy red welts, but we seldom fear death as a result. But, as mentioned a little earlier, the bloodthirsty fiends contribute to more than a million deaths, with nearly 700 million contracting a mosquito-borne illness annually.

Needless to say, the buzzy fliers are much more than just a pest — they are the world’s most dangerous critter, and their presence should not be taken lightly.

Some of the deadly diseases skeeters carry and transmit are:

  • Chikungunya
  • Dengue fever
  • Zika virus
  • West Nile virus
  • Malaria

What’s more, some unlucky souls are allergic to these pesky insects, often developing an allergic reaction when bitten. This can lead to a whole lot of swelling that can be quite painful, especially for our kids. Thankfully, our revolutionary Magic Itch Relief Patches just might be able to provide relief.

Designed with our innovative grid-relief technology,  MagicPatch works by gently adjusting the skin to help the lymphatic system drain the itchy saliva injected by the mosquito. Simply tear off a relief patch, stick it over the itchy boo-boo, and your tiny tot should feel relief in 30 to 60 seconds.

OK — What Are Mosquito Nets?

Also known as bed nets, mosquito nets are fine mesh nets hung over doors, windows, or beds to protect the individual inside from itchy bug bites. They are usually made from polyester or fine cotton and work by creating an impenetrable barrier making it nearly impossible for skeeters to get through and bite.

Any Chemicals?

Some mosquito nets are made of nothing more than a fine mesh material. However, there are also nets on the market soaked in skeeter-repelling chemicals to add an extra layer of protection against these biting pests. These popular nets are called insecticide-treated bed nets (ITNs)

Here at The Natural Patch Co., we’re pretty big fans of chemical-free products. Why? Because our bodies were not designed to work with chemicals.

Take DEET, for example. Often touted as the gold standard of repellents, the harsh chemical has recently shown that it may trigger toxic side effects. Picaridin is another icky chemical often used in bug spray, but just like DEET, new research shows it can be toxic (and bad for the environment!).

ITNs are primarily used to create a protective barrier that hangs above a sleeping space, protecting against mosquitoes. That being said, the insecticides that these coveted nets are drenched in don’t just repel the hungry critters but kills them, too.

Now, to be clear, DEET and picaridin don’t kill skeeters — they only repel them. Yet, the two popular chemicals are still pretty toxic. As for the chemicals used to make mosquito nets, they don’t just repel the buzzy fliers, but they kill them, as well.

Instead of chemicals, something else fights off mosquitoes, with just the superpowers naturally found on our planet.

Is There A Safer Way To Keep Mosquitoes At Bay?

As a matter of fact, there is.

Introducing (drumroll, please)... BuzzPatch — the natural way to send mosquitoes on their way!

Made using non-woven fabric patches that are infused with a powerful combination of citronella and other great essential oils, BuzzPatch is perfectly safe for kids and can provide protection against mosquitoes instantly.

You see, skeeters find humans by sensing the carbon dioxide being emitted as we breathe. And while you could always stop breathing to prevent itchy bug bites — we certainly don’t recommend it!

That being said, BuzzPatch works by confusing the icky insects with a strong scent that they simply can’t stand. In other words, our plant-based mosquito repellent patches create a virtual shield, almost camouflaging your little ones from mosquitoes.

And when the ravenous winged menaces can’t find your precious kiddos, they can’t turn them into their next meal. What’s not to love?

Say Hello To BuzzPatch and Goodbye To Itchy Bug Bites

Mosquito nets are a great concept. Hang one up over your bed and keep the hungry insects from feasting on you as you snooze. However, insecticide-treated bed nets may be a cause for concern. Why? Because they are drenched in harsh chemicals that can kill a mosquito on the spot.

To keep your little darlings safe and sound, we recommend our all-natural mosquito repellent patches — BuzzPatch. Not only are our plant-based patches made without any icky chemicals or questionable ingredients, but they smell absolutely amazing and are mess-free.

Plus, the patches are absolutely adorable, and kids have so much fun picking patches with unique, smiling faces to stick on their clothes. When something is silly and cute, it’s a lot less scary.

Non-toxic, DEET-free, effective and convenient, try BuzzPatch today and protect your kids from mosquitoes tomorrow — naturally.
