Our Story

The Mosquito Bite That Started Everything

Melbourne, 2020

It Started With a Backyard and a Frustrated Dad

It started one spring, with my little ones — aged one and a half and four — playing in our backyard in Australia. They'd come back inside after just 20 minutes, covered in red welts from mozzie bites. We hardly ever saw these mosquitoes, but their bites were causing allergic reactions and disrupting sleep.

As a parent, it was heartbreaking to see. I remember venting to my oldest friend Gary about how these mozzies were going to ruin our upcoming summer holidays. Gary, being a natural solutions kind of guy, advised against using harsh chemicals like DEET.

Citronella + Stickers = Something Kids Actually Want to Wear

It wasn't just about mozzies; it was about finding a fun, kid-friendly solution. That's when the idea of combining citronella with stickers clicked. The shift from the long, drawn-out feedback loops of B2B software to the instant reactions of consumer products was exhilarating. Six weeks later, after countless experiments (and voluntarily becoming mosquito buffets), we had a prototype. Our kids were the first testers — and they loved it.

From a Garage to 32 Countries

We had no clue that our big dream would resonate with folks all over the globe. Before we knew it, our products weren't just cruising around Australia but were jetting off to places like the US, UK, Canada, the Middle East, Asia, and even surprise spots like Guatemala, Ecuador, and Iceland.

Big retailers came knocking, but we stuck to what felt right. We're now proud to work with over 10,000 retail stores in 32 countries — while still partnering with 5,000+ indie shops.

Starting with BuzzPatch Mosquito Repellent Stickers, we've grown our family to many wellness wonders. Each one — be it for itchy times, sleepy nights, focused days, or calming vibes — is packed with our signature love and dedication.

Amazing

Been buying these for my daughter for over 2 years because they’re amazing! When we go visit the country where my mom lives, the mosquitos are ruthless but these have protected my daughter so well. I always recommend them to families with kiddos. I refuse to use the spray on my child and other children if I witness them trying to spray them. That stuff smells so bad, full of chemicals and these stickers don’t smell bad and they don’t go on their skin.

My kids are obsessed

Perhaps a little too obsessed. Getting them to apply sunscreen is a total chore, but they are all in for fun bug stickers and often debate with eachother which colour and design to choose. When they were little I'd just slap one on their back or butt worrying about them pulling them off or sticking them in their mouth and sometimes they even stay on through the laundry. The only time my kids get bit is if I forgot to get the stickers out.

These patches are great. Not just for kids or people out and about. My husband has ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and cannot fan or move his arms or legs in any way to get rid of mosquitoes. I put them on his hat, shoes, etc and they help him so much. Thank you.
